D11 Promise: Free College and Coaching for District 11 Graduates

If you’re an eligible District 11 graduate, the D11 Promise helps cover your tuition, fees, and some required course materials at Pikes Peak State College. This last-dollar scholarship steps in after your financial aid is applied, filling any tuition and fee gaps so you can attend college at no cost. With personalized coaching and built-in support, you'll stay focused on your future instead of your finances. 

Why the D11 Promise Matters

Last-Dollar Funding

Once you apply your financial aid, like Pell Grants or Colorado Student Grants, the D11 Promise covers the rest of your tuition and fees. That means if your aid doesn’t fully pay for school, Promise steps in so you’re not left with a bill.

Up to 60 Credit Hours Paid For

You have three full years to earn your associate degree or complete 60 college credits. Choose full-time or part-time classes to fit your life and schedule.

Coaching That Keeps You on Track

With the D11 Promise, you’re never doing college alone. You’ll meet with your Promise Coach every semester and take part in workshops that help you sharpen study skills, explore careers, and prepare for your next step.

  • Explore careers and prepare you for your next step after college

Eligibility and Application

Eligibility

  1. Graduate of:
    • Mitchell High School
    • Coronado High School
    • Palmer High School
    • Doherty High School
    • Opportunity Schools
      • Achieve Online
      • The Bijou School
      • Tesla Educational Opportunity School
      • Odyssey ECCO
    • Charter Schools
      • CIVA Charter High School
      • Eastlake High School
      • Community Prep Charter School
      • Thomas MacLaren School
  2. Must graduate with a 2.50 GPA and maintain at least a 90% attendance rate.
    • Individual exceptions may be made on a case-by-case basis if the student meets the minimum GPA requirement.
      • Please discuss this process with your College and Career Counselor at your High School
  3. Complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or Colorado Application for State Financial Aid (CASFA) prior to the first semester at PPSC.
  4. Enroll at PPSC within 16 months of graduating high school
    • Fall semester after graduating high school 
    • Spring semester after graduating high school
    • Fall semester one year after graduating high school

We want to support you from your first semester through graduation. To remain in the Promise Program for up to three academic years (nine semesters), students are expected to:

  • Stay in compliance with the Promise Pledge Agreement
  • Complete the FAFSA or CASFA every year by March 31
  • Submit any additional financial aid documents requested by the College
  • Maintain at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA
  • Complete approximately 24 credits each academic year
  • Meet with a Promise Coach twice each semester
  • Attend required Promise workshops and program activities
  • Stay continuously enrolled at PPSC
    Please note: Students who take more than one semester off may become ineligible for Promise funding.

Apply for the Program

Follow these steps to become a Promise Scholar in fall semester after you graduate high school: 

  1. Connect with your High School Counselor to make sure Promise Programs are a good fit for you.
  2. Submit PPSC Admission Application by March 1st*
  3. Submit High School Transcript (unofficial transcripts accepted) by emailing to Testing.Center@pikespeak.edu by March 1st*
  4. Complete New Student Orientation. When you log in, indicate that you are a Promise Student.
  5. Submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for US Citizens and eligible non-citizens or the Colorado Application for State Financial Aid (CASFA) for eligible non-US citizen students by March 31st*
  6. Meet with an academic advisor to go over placement testing and course selection.
  7. Register for classes by June 1st*
  8. Review and complete pending financial aid requirements by July 1st*

*It may still be possible to be a part of the program after these deadlines, but meeting the deadlines is key to a successful start.
