Mission Statement

The mission of TRIO Student Support Services is to support eligible students in achieving their academic and educational goals by providing structured academic support, coaching, and skill-building services that promote persistence and completion.

 

 

TRIO Student Support Services (SSS)

TRIO Student Support Services is a federally authorized student success program funded by the U.S. Department of Education. The program provides academic support services designed to improve retention, persistence, and degree completion for eligible students at Pikes Peak State College. TRIO SSS operates under the Higher Education Act and serves students based on federally defined criteria.

This page outlines the TRIO Student Support Services program. TRIO Educational Opportunity Center (EOC) may provide additional services for low-income individuals and veterans. Be sure to check out TRIO EOC for additional resources

  • career planning and exploration
  • success coaching
  • FAFSA and scholarship assistance 
  • course selection/academic advising
  • transfer advising and four-year college/university campus tours
  • skill-building workshops and pre-semester conferences
  • cultural events and field trips

Eligibility & Participation Requirements

You are eligible to apply to receive services from Student Support Services as long as you meet one or more of the following Federal Requirements:

  • First Generation (neither parent has obtained a bachelor's degree)
  • Low-income status as defined by federal guidelines.
  • Disability (self-disclosed on application)
Students who have already obtained a previous degree are ineligible to join the program (certificates OK).

Race, ethnicity, and national origin are not used to determine eligibility, prioritization, or participation.
 
All TRIO participants are required to attend one TRIO event or workshop per academic year.
