Biology Placement Test

The Biology placement test is only for Pre-Nursing, Pre-Rad Tech or AAS-Paramedic or other Health Sciences degree-seeking students as determined by the Biology Department. This exam is for PPSC placement only.

The Biology placement does not give credit for BIO 1111 but allows a student to skip BIO 1111 and place into BIO 2101 and/or BIO 2104. 

Exam Information

  • The exam is 100 multiple choice questions administered on the Accuplacer platform
  • Students have 2 hours to complete the exam
  • Students must score 70+ to be able to take BIO 2101 and/or BIO 2104. The score is valid only for 1 year from test date
  • The test is $15.00 for each time it is taken. The exam can only be taken 2 times in one calendar year
  • A study guide is available at the Testing Center upon student request. Students can also email us at testing.center@pikespeak.edu requesting a copy
  • Students can take the exam at the Centennial or Rampart Range campus. Appointments are required

Calculus Placement Test

Math faculty from CCCS determined that the Accuplacer Next Generation AAF section did not adequately cover information to place students into MAT 2410–Calculus.

A test was developed by CCCS Math discipline with faculty representation from across the state to aid in placing students into MAT 2410. 

Students must qualify for MAT 1440 to be eligible to take the MAT 2410 placement test. Qualifying ACT, SAT, PSAT, AP, IB, or Accuplacer scores must be on file.

  • Accuplacer AAF -score 280+ 
  • New SAT/PSAT -score 620+ 
  • ACT -score 25+ 

The Calculus placement test is only for placement into MAT 2410 at PPSC, and not for credit for MAT 1340, MAT 1420, or MAT 1440.

Exam Information

  • The Calculus placement test has 20 multiple choice questions with 1-hour time limit. The exam is online, administered in the Accuplacer platform.
  • A retake is allowed after one week of completing the first attempt. If student fails the retake, they need to take Pre-Calculus or they can wait until the following semester to retake the exam again.
  • The exam fee is $10.00 for each test attempt.
  • Must score 14+ to place into Calculus MAT 2410.
  • Calculators are not allowed. 
  • A score report is available upon exam completion. The score is valid for 5 years.
  • A review guide is available at the Testing Center upon student request. Students can also email us at testing.center@pikespeak.edu requesting a copy.
  • Students can take the exam at the Centennial or Rampart Range campus. Appointments are required.
