Founded in 1918, Phi Theta Kappa is the oldest and most prestigious honor society serving two-year colleges with an
approximate membership
of 3 million individuals across the United States and worldwide.
Phi Theta Kappa's nonprofit mission is to recognize and promote student academic achievement.
PTK provides opportunities to cultivate professional and leadership skills, secure
scholarships, explore diverse career paths, and build a network of supportive peers
and trusted advisors that last a lifetime.
The Alpha Gamma Alpha chapter is the local chapter of PTK at Pikes Peak State College.

Our work involves providing support for the continued success of the nation’s top community college students, while also working to support and strengthen the nation’s community colleges through the following three commitments."
At the first half of each semester, eligible students will receive an invitation from headquarters through your personal or student email. Membership includes a one-time, lifetime membership fee of $85.00. Students who are actively receiving Pell Grant funds in the semester that they're invited are eligible to apply for the President's Pell Grant Scholarship. This scholarship will cover your one-time membership dues
Membership Requirements
New student members are formally welcomed with an Induction Ceremony by the Alpha Gamma Alpha Chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.
Graduating members of Phi Theta Kappa may wear the Golden Honor Stole, Tassel, Cords, and Key Medallion during their commencement ceremony. They may also affix the Society's Gold Diploma Seal to their two-year college diploma and have their membership noted in their transcript.
PTK Edge courses are free, online, self-paced, and offered exclusively to Phi Theta Kappa members that help members succeed in their academic and professional careers. Successful completion of each of these courses leads to micro credential badging, lapel pins to accessorize your business dress, and appears on your Phi Theta Kappa transcript.
Transfer Edge: prepares community college students for successful transfer to four-year institutions.
Competitive Edge: a professional development program designed to build essential skills that are often not covered in the classroom.
Employment Edge: a four-part course that prepares students for the workforce by teaching them how to find, apply for, and secure jobs.
Healthcare Edge: prepares students for careers in healthcare by covering essential topics such as patient care, workplace professionalism, self-care, and job-seeking skills.
Research Edge: equips students with advanced research skills through Phi Theta Kappa’s Honors in Action program.
Advocacy Edge: is designed to empower students to take confident action and champion the issues that matter to them.
More than $90 million in transfer scholarships to many four-year colleges and universities are available to Phi Theta Kappa members. Some two-year college scholarships include the Pearson Scholarship for Higher Ed., GEICO Pathway to Completion, and the Oberndorf Lifeline to Completion Scholarship.

At the request of the member, Phi Theta Kappa headquarters will send a letter of recommendation to college admission counselors, scholarship committees, or potential employers.
Members can take advantage of great offers, discounts, and a host of online benefits.
Active members in the Phi Theta Kappa chapters have an opportunity to travel to regional and national conferences.
Members have numerous opportunities to serve as chapter, regional, or even international officers. Leadership training is also available through seminars and conferences.
