If you are enrolled in courses that do not apply to your degree program, financial
aid will not disburse for those classes. You may need to pay for them yourself.
Check in with your academic advisor each semester to ensure you are taking classes that are part of your declared major and will be covered by financial aid.
Check your courses in Degree Check If you are uncertain if your classes are required for your program of study, you can always check by logging in to myPikesPeak Portal and clicking on the “Degree Check” icon on the Dashboard.

In addition to administering a wide-ranging program of grants, loans and work-study positions, PPSC provides resources for scholarships.
Receiving your financial aid all starts with filing your FAFSA, but we know that can
be confusing or even overwhelming. That's why we are here to help. Our knowledgeable
staff will help you complete the financial aid process and explore other ways to pay
for college like scholarships, jobs and internships.

Checking Your Financial Aid Status in the Student Portal
Once you’ve submitted the FAFSA - it’s important for you to know the status of your Financial Aid File.
After your FAFSA is submitted - you may be required to submit additional documents
- before you can be awarded financial aid.
Check your aid status in your student portal to ensure your aid is ready to be awarded
on-time.
Accepting Your Financial Aid Award
Once Pikes Peak has your award offer ready, you can access it via your student portal account - and decide what aid to accept.

Login to your FAFSA and ensure there is no additional action that needs to be taken on your part.
Review your Student Aid Report (SAR) carefully to make sure there are no typos or errors. If there are, login and correct your application.
If your SAR has an asterisk * in the upper right hand corner, you may be required to submit documents to the financial aid office.
PPSC will receive it within 3-5 business days from the date you have submitted it, we may request additional information from you.
Keep an eye on you PPSC school issued email for requested information.
Once PPSC has your award offer ready, you may access it via your MyPikesPeak Portal and from the Dashboard select the Financial Aid Award icon.
PPSC accepts grants on your behalf, as they are free monies. You will chose to accept your work-study and loan offers.
All financial aid students are required to maintain good academic standing by maintaining a 2.0 GP and completing 67% of their overall attempted credits.
Any change to your eligibility will be communicated via your PPSC email.
It can take 3-5 days for PPSC to receive your FAFSA from Federal Student Aid
Within a week of receipt, you will receive an email from our office if we are needing additional information
It can take 2-3 weeks, depending on the time of the year for PPSC to process any additional documents submitted
PPSC begins releasing aid for your balance the Monday after the drop date of your semester.
Book Advances are available 2 weeks from the start of the semester.
Refunds arrive in your selected refund preference within 7 business days from the release date.
Check your PPSC School Issued email on a regular basis, to prevent missing any important information.
Verification is the process schools use to confirm that the data reported on your FAFSA form is accurate.
Being selected does not mean you did something wrong, students are randomly selected by Central Processing Center.
If you are selected, we will ask for additional documents. You access this via your MyPikesPeak Portal Dashboard by selecting the Financial Aid Requirements icon.
Parents will need to create their own FSA ID.
ASCENT is a fifth-year high school program that allows students to participate in concurrent enrollment the year after 12th grade. Qualified students who have completed at least 9 credit hours of postsecondary coursework prior to completion of their 12th grade year may be eligible for the ASCENT Program. ASCENT expanded in 2022 to allow unlimited number of participants.
Students & Parents: Please check with your high school counselor for specific information regarding how your school district administers the ASCENT program. ASCENT students typically participate in high school graduation after 12th grade. Complete the FAFSA to determine whether ASCENT is the best financial option for you. The Federal Student Aid Estimator is a free tool that helps students quickly calculate the amount of financial aid they may be eligible to receive. Students will receive a nonbinding estimate of their Expected Family Contribution (EFC), along with estimated eligibility for Federal Pell Grants, work-study funds, and federal student loans.

Pikes Peak Workforce Center helps residents of El Paso and Teller Counties who are unemployed, underemployed, or employed by providing them with job training programs and career development resources.
Our clients range from entry-level to professional, including youth, adults, people returning to the workforce, and those with barriers to employment. We provide job search and training opportunities, including 20 different job seeker workshops at no cost.

This bill requires Institutions of Higher Education (IHEs) to provide financial assistance to Colorado resident students who, any time after reaching age 13, have been in foster care or noncertified kinship care (following adjudication as neglected/dependent). The IHEs must provide for the remaining balance of total cost of attendance in excess of all private, federal or state financial assistance received by the student.
The bill appropriates funds to cover 50% of what IHEs are required to provide to qualifying students under this bill.
Each college must designate one employee as a liaison to serve as a direct point of contact for qualifying and prospective students.
