Pikes Peak State College offers two dynamic, hands-on programs that prepare you for essential roles in the operating room and beyond. Surgical Technology students are trained to become vital members of the surgical team, working side-by-side with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nurses. You'll learn how to prepare the operating room, manage surgical instruments, and maintain a sterile field throughout procedures. Sterile Processing students play a critical role behind the scenes, ensuring surgical instruments and equipment are properly cleaned, sterilized, and ready for use. You’ll gain expertise in infection prevention, decontamination techniques, inventory management, and regulatory compliance. These programs support the backbone of surgical care and create multiple career pathways in health care!
To work in this field, you may be required to obtain state licensure. Be sure to check state licensure requirements for the state or territory where you are currently located and/or intend to work. Learn more about professional licensure and check to see if our program meets the requirements in your state or territory.
