You will learn to listen, write and speak using mathematic language and concepts. Also, you will apply math to real world problems, come up with solutions and reflect on their results. In addition, you will consider use of technology in modern day mathematics. Finally, you will gain a broad understanding of technology, physics and engineering fields as they relate to math.
An understanding of mathematics is necessary for the study of many disciplines and opens doors to many careers. We are dedicated to helping you obtain a solid foundation of academic rigor, excellence and performance. Math provides solid concepts that apply to multiple fields. Completing this degree guarantees transfer in the state of Colorado to any state university and gives you the foundation to further your understanding of math.
Our Mathematics Associate of Science (AS) with Designation degree is a great foundation for many Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) fields.
This degree can be completed in about a two year time frame with a full-time course load. The Associate of Science degree is guaranteed to transfer within the state of Colorado and will fulfill the Associate degree requirement to continue your education to a Bachelor's degree and beyond. We also have many internship possibilities so you can apply what you are learning.

Reviews college algebra and college trigonometry intended for those planning to take calculus. Topics include algebraic manipulations, properties of algebraic and trigonometric functions and their graphs, trig identities and equations, conic sections, polar coordinates, and parametric equations.
Introduces single variable calculus and analytic geometry. It includes limits, continuity, derivatives, and applications of derivatives as well as indefinite and definite integrals and some applications.
Concentrates on formal logic, algorithms, induction proofs, equivalence relations and graphs. This course is designed for mathematics and computer science students.

Course Description: Includes a brief review of intermediate algebra, equations, and inequalities, functions and their graphs, exponential and logarithmic functions, linear and non-linear systems, selection of topics from among graphing of the conic sections, introduction to sequences and series, permutations and combinations, the binomial theorem, and theory of equations. A graphing calculator is required.

All degrees have a math requirement and most certificates do as well. Some degrees will require multiple math classes. The Associate of Science Math requires students to take math courses up to Calculus, but can vary depending on each student's previous math experience. Working with your Academic Advisor will help you figure out what is best for you and your plan.
Students choosing careers with a strong mathematical component will require four year degrees and in some cases beyond.

Some of our 1000-level courses (the courses with "1" as their first number) are paired with lab or support courses that start with a "0". These "0" courses are to help supplement previous math skills you may not have had which you need to understand the material in the "1" portion of the course. These pairings include:
MAT 0240 (paired with MAT 1240)
MAT 0120 (paired with MAT 1120)
MAT 0260 (paired with MAT 1260)
MAT 0140 (paired with MAT 1140)
Your placement scores determine whether or not you will need a "0" course paired with your "1" course.
If self-registering, and you have placed into the area needing a "0" and "1" class,
remember to look for "0" and "1" course which share the same section number. However,
if you are a new student, please work with your Academic Advisor to create your personalized semester schedule.
