Students Studying

The Associate of Science degree is designed for students who want an emphasis in natural sciences such as biology and chemistry, as well as mathematics, physics, and allied health professions. We help students develop a broad and applicable skill set. Biology graduates have a reputation of being professional, critical thinkers; skills that are sought after in today's workforce. Individuals with a strong foundation in Biology will benefit in any career. Starting at PPSC means getting a degree that is guaranteed to transfer in the state of Colorado.

An Associate of Science Degree (AS) is a Guaranteed Transfer Degree. This two-year degree will transfer to any four year state school in Colorado.

  • An AS Degree with Designation (DwD) in Biology ensures transferring students have met the requirements of the first two years of a Bachelor's Degree in Biological Sciences.
  • An AS Degree (without designation) allows increased options of science elective courses for specific fields of interest but still allows transfer of credits to a university.
  • An Associate of General Studies Degree (AGS) provides students with a personalized educational plan. It allows the blending of both career & technical and transfer courses without the constraints of specialization. Receiving institutions will accept all applicable credits earned within ten years of transfer.
  • An Associate of Applied Science Degree (AAS) is often chosen by career & tech oriented students who are not necessarily planning on transferring to a four-year institution. AAS students typically enter the workforce after two years of occupational training, but many credits from the AAS degree will transfer to 4-year institutions if the student wishes to continue their education.

Students should check specific curriculum requirements for the degree or certificate program at the institution to which they are transferring or applying.

The Associate of Science Degree with Designation in Biology is designed for students intending to transfer to a four-year school and pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Biology. The Statewide Transfer Agreement will allow students to transfer to a Colorado public four-year school and complete their degree with an additional 60 credit hours. For more information about the Transfer Agreement please visit: cdhe.colorado.gov/students/attending-college/credit-transfer/transfer-degrees
