Elementary Education Bachelor of Applied Science Application Information

We're excited that you are interested in joining PPSC's Elementary Education BAS program!

This program has special admission requirements. Please review the information below carefully to prepare for and complete your Elementary Education BAS application.

BAS Application Steps

If you haven't already done so, you need to apply to be a Pikes Peak State student before you can apply to the Elementary Education BAS program specifically. Start by submitting your admission application

Before applying for admission to the BAS, you must complete or be nearing completion of the Associate of Arts degree in Elementary Teacher Education. Look for this degree under Transfer Agreements on the CDHE webpage for a list of courses that must be completed.  If you are currently in the PPSC program and on track to meet all program requirements, you will be ready to apply for the BAS.

If you are completing a different associate degree, you must meet with a faculty advisor from the Elementary Education Department to develop a modified academic plan. In this case, you may be required to complete additional lower division courses. Sixty credits from the Associate degree are applied to the 120-credit requirement of the BAS degree.

Additional admission requirements to the BAS program include:

  • fingerprint-based criminal history check
  • a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher
  • A grade of C or better in all general education courses required for the degree

When you have completed or are nearing completion of your associate degree, you will apply for the BAS program. The application will consist of:

  • A disposition self-assessment where you will rate yourself on a variety of categories, including respect, communication & collaboration, reflection & critical thinking, and ethical & professional responsibility
  • An essay sharing more about who you are, why you want to enroll in the program, your personal education philosophy, and more
  • Your unofficial transcripts
  • An acknowledgement of the application and next steps

The BAS application will be available here when it is open and accepting new applicants.

Be sure to record your responses carefully when you submit your application! You will not be able to make edits.

Each group of accepted applicants will begin clases in the next fall semester.

Top applicants will be invited to interview with PPSC Education faculty. This helps us get a better idea of who you are and why you would be a good fit for our program.

Applicants will be notified of their acceptance status. If you are accepted, you will receive information on how to register for the fall semester.
