Background

Greetings! My name is Candice Morris, and I have been teaching for the Colorado Community College System for over ten years. I joined Pikes Peak State College in 2023, and I have been fortunate to teach Introduction to Sociology and Sociology of the Family. Sociology of the Family is a strong interest of mine because of my own family. I have a very large extended family here in the Pikes Peak region as well as a small family of my own. The class, Sociology of the Family, not only helps students grow, but it has also helped me grow as a daughter, mother, cousin, and member of varying communities. This fall, I will start teaching a course in Women's Studies and I am looking forward to that. During my master's program, a focus of mine was sex and gender, and I was fortunate enough to work as a teaching assistant to a professor teaching a women's studies course. During that time, I was able to host small student groups and delve deeply into women's studies. To jump back into this area is something I have great excitement about.

I received a Bachelor's and a Master of Arts in Sociology from the University of Colorado. During my college tenure, I have taken many online courses. Now, I am enjoying teaching them.

I will also keep an eye out for artifacts too!
