Background

Katie Wheeler, M.A., University of Colorado

With over 10 years of teaching experience, my favorite place to be is the classroom. The focus of my career is strengthening and growing my skills as a teacher. My experience includes designing new courses, re-designing courses to match industry needs, learning and implementing hyflex technology, and developing spaces where students can learn in a co-creation of knowledge environment.

After completing a master's degree, I spent my early career in university, non-profit, corporate, and private liberal arts college settings. I began teaching part-time in 2012 and discovered my true passion. As a full-time faculty member, I have also had the opportunity and honor to work as a service-learning coordinator, hyflex coordinator, and now director of the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning.

I love living in Colorado where hiking is less than an hour away, the mountains are right in our backyard, and I can spend time with my family. My hobbies include writing, reading, Dungeons and Dragons, playing video games, stumbling through piano pieces, and hiking.
