New York born painter, Laura BenAmots, spent her formative years abroad. She studied painting at the historic Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art, earned her BFA from the Tyler College of Art & Design at Temple University and has an MFA with a split emphasis in Book Arts, Printmaking and Painting from the Philadelphia University of the Arts.
Laura is an active studio artist. She has exhibited locally, nationally, and internationally including the 2024 Seeking Shelter at the PPSC Studio West Gallery, 2022 exhibit at Sangre de Cristo Art Center Museum White Gallery titled EXO-Sanctuaries and the International Contemporary Artist Exhibition 2014 in Assisi, Italy. She has also developed creative programing for military and veteran students, marketing for the visual artist classes, served as Gallery Director for eight years and created numerous career and collaboration opportunities for students together with her colleagues and community.
Laura has been awarded numerous honors including a 3-month Artist Studio Residency at the Machine Shop, being featured artist in the online publication Collateral Magazine, a self-driven artist residency at Ghost Ranch NM, and artist residencies in Kingman AZ and Assisi IT. She was awarded 2012 recognition as Visual Artist of the Year for the Pikes Peak Region in Colorado.
