Ms. Phillips completed her bachelor’s degree in accounting at the University of Colorado – Boulder. She worked for 21 years at Hewlett-Packard, in various accounting roles as well as in manufacturing and real estate operations. During her time at Hewlett-Packard, she earned her Master of Business Administration (MBA) with an emphasis in accounting and sat for the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Exam, earning her CPA in 1993.
In 1994, she began teaching as an affiliate accounting faculty at Regis University and served as the lead faculty of the team that proposed and then developed the online accounting program and classes that met the CPA Exam requirements in all 50 United States and four U.S. Territories.
Ms. Phillips left Hewlett-Packard for academia as the Department Chair for Accounting
with the online division of the Colorado Community College System, a position she
recently retired from after 11 years.
Throughout her teaching career, Ms. Phillips has utilized her varied career roles
to demonstrate to students that whether accounting is your passion or just a class
or two you must take, the knowledge of accounting is beneficial in all career paths.
