FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Hands-on robotics and coding experience prepares next-generation STEM leaders
COLORADO SPRINGS, CO (June 25, 2025) – Pikes Peak State College (PPSC), in partnership with the Experiential Robotics Platform (XRP), will host a space-themed robotics summer camp for local middle and high school students, taking place July 14–18, 2025, at the college’s Centennial Campus. The XRP Space Camp offers a dynamic introduction to robotics, coding, and advanced manufacturing with a space exploration theme.
During the five-day camp, students will build and program their own XRP robots using beginner-friendly coding platforms. They will learn how to operate their creations in autonomous mode and test their skills in competitive challenges. The camp culminates in an exciting “Orbit Odyssey” competition on the final day.
“This camp is more than just robots,” said Heather Pierce, Executive Dean at Pikes Peak State College. “It’s about building confidence, teamwork, and a vision for the future. We want every student to see themselves in the space, tech, or manufacturing industries and to know there’s a path forward right here in Colorado Springs.”
XRP is a national initiative that provides accessible, affordable robotics experiences to students from all backgrounds. One XRP robot recently traveled aboard a Blue Origin spaceflight, and the platform is currently used in International Space Station simulation programs. By bringing this innovative technology to Colorado Springs, PPSC is connecting local students to real-world STEM applications.
The XRP Space Camp reflects PPSC’s commitment to workforce development in critical fields such as engineering, advanced manufacturing, and robotics. By introducing students to these careers early, the college is helping build a future-ready workforce for the region.
Space is limited, and registration is now open to students entering grades 6 through 12.
