Pikes Peak State College Announces 100% NCLEX Pass Rate and New Stipends for Nursing Assistant Students

PPSC Centennial

Press Release: May 21, 2024

Colorado Springs, CO – Tuesday, May 21, 2024 – Pikes Peak State College (PPSC) graduating nursing students earn a 100% pass rate on the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX). This achievement positions PPSC at the forefront of nursing
education in Colorado and nationally, with its program ranked first among 1,386 programs across the United States and first out of 722 Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) programs.

This achievement comes on the heels of financial support for students in PPSC’s Certified Nursing Assistant/Nursing Assistant (CNA/NUA) program through funds from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA). The college has partnered with the Pikes Peak
Area Council of Governments (PPACG) Area Agency on Aging to offer stipends to 121 eligible students, each receiving about $465 to assist in pursuing their educational goals.

Dawn Murphy, a member of the Nursing Faculty at PPSC, commented on the program’s success: “The success of the PPSC Nursing Program is measured not only in these outstanding exam results but also in the everyday interactions with students, in the
classroom, labs, simulations, and clinical rotations within the community. Our faculty and instructors are passionate about the specialties they teach and strive to inspire this same passion in the students they have the privilege to teach. We help to shape our students into critical thinkers, ethical caregivers, and lifelong learners prepared to care for patients and families in the communities they will serve.”

The superior rank of PPSC’s Nursing program and the stellar success of its students are a testament to PPSC’s commitment to provide high-quality, accessible education that positively impacts the greater community.
