Uplift Foundation and Pikes Peak State College Foundation Partner to Support Future Elementary Educators with $100,000 Endowment

Colorado Springs, Colo., September 30, 2025 – The Uplift Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the Xi Pi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, has committed $50,000 to establish an endowed scholarship fund in partnership with the Pikes Peak State College (PPSC) Foundation. The PPSC Foundation will match this commitment dollar for dollar, creating a $100,000 endowment to benefit students preparing for careers in elementary education.

The Xi Pi Uplift Foundation Scholarship Fund will provide direct financial support to degree-seeking students at PPSC who are working toward teaching careers. To be eligible, applicants must hold a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. Preference will be given to students completing their student teaching practicum and to those who intend to teach in the Colorado Springs area after graduation.

“Investing in future teachers is investing in the future of our community,” said Courtney Henderson, Chairman of the Xi Pi Uplift Foundation. “We are proud to partner with Pikes Peak State College Foundation to create opportunities for promising educators who will go on to shape the lives of children in our region.”

Since its founding, the Xi Pi Uplift Foundation has awarded more than $328,000 in scholarships to 124 students in the greater Colorado Springs area. This new endowment underscores the Foundation’s mission to uplift and empower youth through mentorship and scholarship programs that open doors and illuminate pathways to success.

Donna Nelson, Chief Development Officer for the PPSC Foundation, praised the partnership: “The generosity of the Uplift Foundation strengthens our ability to support students pursuing careers in education. These scholarships will ease the financial burdens of student teaching and help retain future educators in our local classrooms.”

The Colorado Springs Community and members of the press are invited to the signing ceremony to celebrate this partnership. It will take place on Tuesday, September 30, from 3–4 p.m. at the Centennial Campus Learning Commons at Pikes Peak State College.
