PPSC Hosts Free Community Cybersecurity Clinic to Strengthen Regional Digital Safety 

Hands-on event offers practical tools and expert insights for individuals and organizations 

Wednesday, April 1, 2026   Colorado Springs, CO — Pikes Peak State College (PPSC) will host a free Community Cybersecurity Clinic on Friday, April 10, from 10 am-2 pm at the Centennial Campus (5675 S Academy Blvd.) in the Atrium, offering practical guidance to help individuals and organizations protect themselves from evolving cyber threats. The event is free and open to the public. We invite the media to invite the public and attend the event. 

Open to everyone, with specific practical use for small business owners, nonprofit leaders, seniors, students and community members, the clinic provides accessible, real-world cybersecurity education delivered by PPSC cybersecurity students and faculty experts.  

“Cybersecurity is no longer optional. It is essential for individuals and organizations of every size,” said Mike Krakow, Director of Cybersecurity at PPSC. “This clinic is designed to make cybersecurity knowledge approachable and actionable, while giving our students the opportunity to apply what they are learning in real-world settings.” 

Attendees will participate in rotating 15-30 minute sessions throughout the event, each followed by time for questions. Presentations are designed to be practical and easy to understand, focusing on everyday strategies to improve digital safety. Student-led sessions will highlight real-world applications of cybersecurity concepts, while faculty and guest speakers will provide expert insight into current and emerging threats. 

Topics will include: 

  • Personal cybersecurity and digital hygiene  
  • Protecting accounts, devices, Wi-Fi, and sensitive data  
  • Understanding common cyber threats and prevention strategies  
  • Cybersecurity risk management frameworks such as CIS Controls, NIST, and CMMC  
  • Social engineering and phishing defense  
  • Disinformation and online harassment  
  • Incident response and organizational preparedness  
  • Cloud security and critical infrastructure protection  
  • AI-driven vulnerability assessments
