COSI Back to Work Scholarship

The Colorado Recovery Plan expands the Colorado Opportunity Scholarship Initiative (COSI) grant to support Coloradans whom experienced an economic loss due to the pandemic (such as lost or adverse changes in employment, increased food or housing insecurity, forced withdrawal from college after March 13, 2020, or suffered another form of economic loss).

Have you been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic? Are you thinking of starting or continuing college in an undergraduate eligible degree/certificate program in Colorado? Pikes Peak State College is a proud partner of the COSI program to help provide education and training needed for your next professional stepping stone to success.

I have been employed in various types of bookkeeping, income processing and accounting jobs throughout my 20-year working history as a mom. I never returned to school because I wanted to be available for my kids outside of my work hours. Now both of my kids are in college, and I found the idea of going back to school financially overwhelming as we are doing our best to help them with their school expenses as much as possible. I have been thinking about returning to school for the past 2 years, however, the financial burden had held me back. This year I decided to just go for it despite my concerns. The Back to Work Scholarship not only alleviated the financial pressures, but also felt like a confirmation that going back to school was the right course of action for me. I am so looking forward to having a degree that will enrich and enhance my career.

The Back to Work Scholarship has really helped me to be able to remain a full-time student so that I can obtain my degree as quickly as possible in order to reenter the workforce. Without the help of this scholarship and others like it, I would be looking at many more semesters before I could graduate. I am now on pace to graduate in December and to complete a summer internship and I couldn't be more excited about it!
