Dave Seyfert holds M.A. and B.A. degrees in Sociology from The University of Colorado, Colorado Springs. He has taught Sociology part-time with Pikes Peak State College over the last 8+ years after retiring from a career of over 3 decades in Human Resource Management in the healthcare field, specializing in Employee Relations, Performance Coaching, Conflict Resolution, Leadership Development and Management Training. Dave’s approach to teaching emphasizes an appreciation for historical context to better understand current sociological topics and also utilizes his career experience to combine the study of Sociology with building practical career competency skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, communication and teamwork and an awareness of workplace issues. His major interests and areas of specialized study include sociology of religion, environmental sociology, social movements, medical sociology, and social movements. He is also an avocational folk musicologist with a focus on the impact of folk music on the civil rights movement in the US in the mid-20th century.
