I started my career 22 years ago working in residential treatment for at-risk teens and knew from the first day that I would never want to leave the field of psychology. I am fascinated by the way that the mind works and have spent my entire career serving different populations but sharing that love for psychology is probably my favorite. I am a Colorado native with one son. When I am not teaching or working, I spend time hanging out with my husband and collecting vintage dishes.
I started my career working in residential treatment for teens where I worked for three years before recognizing that I wanted to be able to do more. I transitioned into working for the El Paso County Department of Human Services where I spent the next 11 years of my career working in intake with youth. During my time with El Paso County, I also was part of the afterhours child abuse hotline and had the privilege of working with survivors of human trafficking. After working with El Paso County, I moved to working in community mental health as a program manager at Diversus Health where I had the privilege of working with the Wraparound team, the case management team as well as the competency restoration services. I served as a clinical director, interim admissions director and worked with bariatric patients to complete their required psychological evaluations before coming to the Department of Corrections where I served as the mental health program administrator. In addition to teaching at Pikes Peak Community College, I also adjunct faculty at Colorado State University Pueblo.
