PPSC welcomes the public of all ages and the media to join students, faculty, and staff for this vibrant occasion. Guests and the media are encouraged to park in parking lots C and D.
“The Black History Month Celebration is part of a series of events sponsored by the Black Student Union to educate and celebrate on the significant, but often overlooked, impact Black Americans have made on our nation,” says Enrique Romo, Vice President of Student Experience and Equity. “The Black Student Union is a club that was not sustained during the pandemic but has since re-assembled and is making a difference not just in our student body, but also in the community of Colorado Springs.”
President of the BSU, Maya Harvin says, “The Black Student Union aims to create a welcoming environment and safe place for African American students at PPSC. We are putting on this celebration because we want Black residents of Colorado Springs to also feel that they are safe and appreciated in this community.”
Carter G. Woodson established Black History Month in 1976 on the premise that all Americans should recognize the significant impact Black American have made on our nation. Black History Month is now nationally recognized. PPSC encourages the community to join PPSC on a journey through the meaningful impacts Black Americans have made on national history.
