PPSC Plans to expand Health Technical and Arts spaces

press release | Jan. 8, 2019

Pikes Peak State College is planning major campus expansions to meet growing workforce needs.

"With the purchase of the PPSC Health Education Center, the expansion of the Downtown Studio Campus, and our additional classroom spaces at other locations, PPSC is poised to make an even larger impact in our community," said PPSC President Lance Bolton. "This represents our college's most significant growth since we opened the Rampart Range Campus in 1998.

By fall, 2019, PPSC plans to add:

PPSC Health Education Center
68,829 square foot office/warehouse building located at 1850 Cypress Semi Drive

The college plans to invest about $10 million in this new location for its allied health programs. PPSC paid $5.5 million to purchase the building and will spend $4.3 million to renovate it. The building, about a mile north of PPSC's Rampart Range Campus, would house the region's first interdisciplinary simulation lab, which would greatly reduce the need for the clinical work necessary in our nursing and other healthcare programs. In addition to housing our nursing programs (2- and 4-year), it will have surgical technology, pharmacy tech, surgical tech, EMS, dental assisting, and medical assisting. In addition, other healthcare employers will be able to utilize the simulation lab to provide continuing education to their employees who require it.

Studio West
10,000 square foot building located at 22 N. Sierra Madre St.

This building, which PPSC leased to Borealis Fat Bikes (now at 1050 S. Academy Blvd., Suite 144), is across the street and west of the main Downtown Studio Campus building. It will house a black box theatre, dance rehearsal and performance space, and an expanded art gallery. Studio West will be part of the thriving downtown art scene (a designated Creative District), just a couple of blocks north of the Olympic Museum.

Technical Education Center
PPSC will be leasing this 26,000-square-foot building at 850 Aeroplaza Drive.

It will house advanced manufacturing programs, including robotics, machining, 3-D printing, CAD, electronics, and welding as well as construction. This will allow for the expansion of other career and technical programs at the Centennial Campus. PPSC's Welding Training Center has been housed at this location since 2015.

The Catalyst Campus Cyber Range
Leasing space at 555 E Pikes Peak Ave.

PPSC is teaching its non-credit cybersecurity prep courses in these new secure labs.  This Network + and Security +  certification classes prepare working professionals to take the industry certification exams. Classes are taught by advanced certified and currently working IT professionals.

UCHealth Community Education Center
Printers Park, 175 S. Union Blvd.

Thanks to a series of generous grants, PPSC will be moving some of its Paramedic program, a substantial portion of the Emergency Medical Technician program, as well as non-credit paramedic programs to the UCHealth Community Education Center (CEC). The move will be immediate, with classes offered at CEC this semester.
