Every year, Veterans Day is recognized in the United States on November 11th to honor the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month of 1918. This is the exact day, time, and hour that signaled the end of World War I. Originally recognized as Armistice Day, congress passed a resolution in 1926 for an annual observance, and in 1938 November 11th became a national holiday. Unlike Memorial Day, Veterans Day pays tribute to all American veterans, living or dead, but especially gives thanks to living veterans who served their country honorably during wartime or peacetime.
Pikes Peak State celebrates Veterans Day through a week-long series of activities that honor our veterans and our active military while educating others about the history and significance of the day. This year, Pikes Peak State's Veterans Day program will consist of several in person and virtual events throughout the week. Please see below for additional information and to access our virtual events.
